FAIRMONT, MINN. - Kahler Automation Cloud Engineering Manager Sam Viesselman was honored as a "Four Under 40" recipient at the Twin Valley Council Boy Scouts of America event March 12th at the Best Western Fairmont. This annual award recognizes up-and-coming leaders for their community contributions.
"In Sam I've seen a tendency towards leadership, a tendency towards innovative ideas," said Software Engineering Supervisor Logan Kahler in introducing Viesselman. "And not just the ideas but also putting in the time and setting the goals necessary to make them a reality."

Viesselman was born and raised in Fairmont and attended Fairmont High School, graduating in 2011. He attended the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities and graduated in 2015 with a bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering. He is active with Fairmont's Team 2847 "MegaHertz" high school robotics team, Martin County KnowHow! and Project 1590.
"A quote that I try to really live by is 'Try to be the person you needed when you were growing up,'" Viesselman said. "I didn't necessarily know anyone in my life who was an engineer or in a tech field, and didn't even necessarily know I wanted to do that. But I have a memory of when I was eight or nine building some wild Lego contraption and showing it to my mom. She said 'Wow, that's pretty fancy! You should be an engineer!' and I thought 'I don't know what that means but sounds good!'"
Viesselman's fellow honorees were Hayley Luther, Sam Meixell, and Erica Berhow. Kahler Automation was the event's Presenting Sponsor.
